Instructional Plans

The instructional plans provide schools with a recommended instructional sequence for using literature-based direct instruction as a trade-book based reading program or to use it to supplement a basal reading program with novel studies that are designed to be used with unabridged novels. These plans will assist you in long term planning for your students.

During the planning process, you can go back to earlier titles on the plan, but should not jump ahead if your students do not yet have the readability level to work in the materials at the instructional level. The readability levels designated are based on a teacher using the novel study instructionally as prescribed. Placement information is provided in the introduction to the plans.

Individualized curriculum plans can be developed for your school or district by the authors of these programs on request.
